For a guaranteed high-quality design, it is essential to follow certain steps:

  • Feasibility study to identify and rectify any potential problem areas
  • Data preparation - prepare library, import components and net-list
  • Define any component placement and route length constraints
  • Obtain optimal PCB layer build for required route impedances
  • Place components and run a placement check
  • Review placement with customer
  • Hand route any length-constrained or critical nets
  • Hand route or stub power, auto-route and tidy the remaining nets
  • Check whole PCB for potential design and manufacturing errors
  • Review design with customer and obtain approval
  • Post-process to produce Gerber manufacturing files
  • IPC-356 net-list check and Gerber manufacturing error check
  • Provide assembly, solder paste stencil and x-y pick-and-place files
  • Provide CADIF test data files and customer-specific drawings or files
  • Provide master design files to customer and file backup
